You haven't quite worked it out, but google a bit more. Needless to say it is all in the worse possible taste......

Re: IMM 2010 - Germany
Just looked up ferry prices and found what I believe is a very good price.
£40 return from Dover to Dunkerque for a car/2 people with car upto 5 meters. Would it be worth getting the ferry booked soon?

Re: IMM 2010 - Germany
If the outward bound journey is to be done in two days then there is a formula motel at Liege. 42 euro per night for two people. That would leave a 350 mile second day trek.

Re: IMM 2010 - Germany
350 Miles with a 998 sounds like great fun That will be a good fun challenge
Having not driven a long long distances before I'm up for anything, I'm sure I will regret saying that though

I thought this looked like a good option not the cheapest but only 80miles or so from Norwich about the same from Cambs area, 6 1/2 hours to sleep on the boat, into Holland nice and early with an overnight stop at the Nurburgring on the way . Not sure what Jonnie has planned????

thats what I orignally suggested, but people werent happy paying that for a ferry. It would be alot easier as it would save a days (or nights) holiday.
Re: IMM 2010 - Germany
I think this is what CCC will be doing so we might meet you in Germany, end of the day what we will save on ferry costs we will spend on the M25

It breaks down as follows
Harwich/Holland
90 miles to ferry
7 hours ferry ride (sleep!!)
then 235 miles to nurburgring for an overnight stop
and a further 265 miles the next day to the IMM a day early
total of 590 miles driving
Dover/calais
135 miles to Dover
1 hour (ish) ferry
300 miles to Nurburgring
finally 265 miles to IMM
total of 700 miles driving.
As Bluffin has said the money saved will more than likely be spent on the extra driving in traffic via M25 etc also the safety aspect of long distance driving with little in the way of breaks has made us decide to go Harwich/Holland and meet you all along the way somewhere.

Re: IMM 2010 - Germany
sorry very busy at work so have been slow to organise anything.
The dover ferry costs £38 so well over £100 to £130 saved. If we catch the 08-00 ferry we would be travelling at a time where the traffic issue is irrelivant. The ring whilst a good idea is not anouncing its "public days" until the new year. I would suggest that Koln is a great location for the overnight on the way there which is 260 miles from Calais so mileage on the other side is comparable between the two ports so that option still gets my vote. Any jolly to the Ring is only of interest if we can actually get a lap or two???? so I would suggest that this can be included either on the way there or back once we know if this is a possibility?

Re: IMM 2010 - Germany
im with you on this jonnie
we wont be on the m25 for long
i would sooner do the ring on the way back last thing i would want to do is give the car a frashing then drive on to imm then all the way back
i have no problem driving all day and night but the minis might have other ideas
i would sooner save money on the crossing and have an extra nights stay
we wont be on the m25 for long

Re: IMM 2010 - Germany
To me both routes have pros and cons, why not just have both routes available and we can choose which ones we want to use?
Perhaps we can have a meet up and break off point somewhere in Germany, but without working it out I am not sure if that will just end up being IMM

Re: IMM 2010 - Germany
I'll be working on the 22nd so wont make the meeting. An early morning ferry is fine with us as with Kolne for the stopover is good. The Wednesday is one of my rest days so we would possibly travel down to Kent on the Wed afternoon and use a Travel-lodge overnight meeting the convoy at the port all bright eyed and bussy tailed.

Re: IMM 2010 - Germany
Right folks I'm back and ready to go.
As Craig is a major part of organising this and has the experiance of sortting out holland last year, I think we need him in from the start so propose that we hold our meet on 29th so he can attend.
therefore
29th November 19.30hrs at
The Red Lion
52 Eaton Street
Eaton, Norwich
Norfolk NR4 7LD
http://www.redlion-eaton.co.uk/contact.html
I will bring routes, prices and hotel suggestions.I think we need to confirm the options we are taking and get some deposits in.
The pub has wi-Fi so I'll bring a lap-top.
Look forward to seeing you all there.
