Idea 1

5 day drive down

Leaving the UK on Sunday morning from Dover

Sunday - Dover to Dunkirk on the early ferry as per Switzerland then onto Arlon - 224 miles (or 220 if we battle the brussels ring road!)

Monday - Arlon to Mulhouse - 207 miles

Tuesday - Mulhouse to Gaschurn - 186 miles - short stint to give the cars a rest before the next stage

Wednesday - Gaschurn to Trento - 210 miles (this will include the famous Stelvio mountain pass with its 60 hairpins!!

Thursday - Trento to IMM site - 186 miles (arriving fairly early afternoon to beat the traffic etc)

Total mileage = 1013 miles (from Dunkirk)

As with previous IMM's I think most people will be driving down to Dover the evening before and stopping at Travelodge.

Route 2

4 days to get home.

IMM to Milan - 180 miles

Milan to Basel - 210 miles

Basel to Reims - 260 miles

Reims to Dunkirk - 172 miles

Total mileage = 822 miles to Dunkirk (1000 miles to Norwich)

Stelvio Pass! Hurrah!!

So that's planning on leaving Sunday 12th May, getting to IMM on Thu 16th, camping there for 4 nights, and driving back (assuming leave on Mon 20th) to arrive back on Thu 23rd May?

Thats the one.

I would tend to favour a leisurely trip in case any cars are ailing.

The most is 260.

I've tried taking distance and time into account, problem is driving around them pesky mountains.

This is only a first look at google maps, we maybe able to cut some stages

Route 3

Day1 Dunkirk to Fleurus (nearest etap hotel to Namur) = 124 miles (ideal small run for people who travel from Norwich rather than Dover)

Day2 Fleurus to Epinal (dont fancy Nancy lol) = 232 miles

Day3 Epinal to Chur = 214 miles

Day4 Chur to Mezzolombardo via Stelvio pass = 170 miles (lots of hills and twisties)

Day5 Mezzolombardo to IMM = 190 miles

Total miles = 930


Hotels for this route come to approx £190

can we start looking at some definate routes. alot of clubs have already booked ferries!!
