Paint Ideas
Hello,
I am fairly new to the mini scene and live in Norfolk. Im am after some advice on what colours would be good to paint my newly restored 1976 clubman, i have been getting her back on the road since last november and have got the mot this week. However she needs a fresh coat of paint,
I have been thinking of a metallic black with an old english cream roof. Would anyone else think this is a good combination and also reccomened any garages that carry out spraying in Norfolk.
Many Thanks for any advice anyonw can assist me with

Re: Paint Ideas
I'm sure Ian will soon see this, and maybe able to recommend the garage he has just used for general rust repairs/ spray.
also Keith has just had some respray work done on his Cooper. I think both garages are in the Norwich area, but cant help you with any numbers sorry.
Both will be along later no doubt.
and as for colour combinations. - if you like it - go for it!!

Re: Paint Ideas
I have no hesitation in recomending APVM at Rackheath.
Phone 01603 722100
Ivan who runs it has done loads of Mini's as well as plenty of classics, and he takes cash so you can avoid paying VAT to pay for Gordon Browns utopia that we are promised is just around the corner !

Re: Paint Ideas
Mine was done by Colin's Car Care & Paint Cosmetics on Bessemer road in Norwich (01603 622665).
When asked if he minded being recommended he said yes and no. I got him to do a fair bit of rust removal/waxoiling etc which he wasn't overly keen on as it's a very fiddly job and requires a lot of time. But if you're just after a respray for a shell and no 'cleaning up' he might be more willing.

Re: Paint Ideas
Hey
Just a little point..
As the car is old and a mini rust will come back through in the notorious areas no matter how hard you try to hold it back.
Metalised colours are harder to match and a bugger to touch up.
Minis will often need small localised body repairs as time goes on and this will be harder if the car is painted in a metalic finish. (more costly)
I recommend a good solid gloss colour in a manufacturer shade so touch ups and localised repairs can be kept to small areas with no need to laquer in whole panels and "fade out" etc.
Much better for a long lasting nice looking mini.
Hope this helps
