Re: Ian will be mini-less for a short time.....
The fan is back to front and has nuts as spacers to shift the fan over as some dim-wit has fitted the alternator the wrong side of the water pump.

alternator is fitted to far to the right so water pump pulley is also offset?

Re: Ian will be mini-less for a short time.....
Who could you be talking about ?
I have a gut feeling I have seen this car before.
I remember a guy who had one like this with a 998 engine bought from that now defunct cowboy Mini specialist in Norwich whose name escapes me.

I apologise to mini farm
had heard diffeing opinons on his work but I suppose you normally hear the bad opinions rather than the good ones.

To be fair to James, although he can get a bad press, he's always been fine to deal with for me.
All I've ever used him for is second hand spares, but, his prices are more than resonable, and everything I've had from the bloke works.

James is ok but like you say you only get to hear about the people who got upset and after being in business for so long you are bound to upset some people no matter how hard you try.
I guess the fact that he has been running for 15+ years must mean he does some good work?
The ex club car was Trevor Jackmans clubman, the one that used to be blue with the large box arches.
Trevor broke the car into spares rather than selling it complete as it was a cut and shut.
Somehow mini mania got hold of it and fitted it out with 1275 running gear and re-sprayed it BRG.
The car was sold to a lad who worked for Anglia television.. needless to say the car was brought back to Kevin for a re-fund but ratrher than re-fund him he offered to re-sell the car for him but as there was no proffit to be had from doing this no real effort was put into a sale and it sat on the side of the lot for nearly 2 years!
When mini mania went under the car vanished! BUT after about another three years it re-surfaced with a pearl red/pink re-spray and was being sold by Robin from RS cars (Kevins old friend).
The car was put on ebay but did not sell, I got news of the car and knew its past so bought it. (cheeeeeeep)
Anyway I stripped her down and found a whole host of nasty welding and shoddy repairs (not done by trevor but the guy who built it before him), My intention was to return her to show form.
I started the roof chop but the more I worked on here the more I found the shell just wasnt structually aligned correctly and would never make a good project base.
I did think about removing the quarters and box arches etc but after much work and deliberation I decided it just wasnt worth carrying on with.
The shell was put on ebay for use as a grass track car or extensive rebuild and was sold for just £82.10.. yup thats all I got for the shell.
The running gear was used in another car.
Trevor made a cracking job of turning this into a concours car as to be honest the base car was just a bodged death trap! although the arches and outer body was great.
I think two people must have built the car prior to Trevor getting it as some work was fantastic and some was just purely horrific.

Re: Ian will be mini-less for a short time.....
how did it end up on c plate
round nose gone square i suppose
trouble with any garages who you go to to have done by it that its always others opinion
maybe the club should have ( if it hasnt been done lately) a list of gaages and companies members have used.
members could list their expeiences good and bad - the good ones get more business and the carp ones hopefully give up and do something else

The car was a round nose but with clubby wings etc.
I think thats one of the reasons it was on a private reg when T had it.
The back end was a 1979 v and the front was a 85/6 C.
