Classic Car Hire
My dads 60th birthday is coming up in a few months and we'd like to hire an E-type Jag for the day, one that he and i can drive, a dream of his.
Ive found a couple of places that do them on the web, but has anybody got any experience of this sort of thing, or can anybody recommend anywhere?

Re: Classic Car Hire
Seems to be around the £260 mark whilst not cheap if a few people go in on it, its a bit more affordable, its the £1000 spare you have to have on a credit card in case you bump into something thats a bit more difficult!

Re: Classic Car Hire
That is quite a cool idea for a present.
If I could afford it, i'd do that for dads 40th this year, but he'd want a Mk1 Granada instead, lol.

Re: Classic Car Hire
Have a look here for what I think is a balanced appraisal of the E-Type !
http://www.aronline.co.uk/etypestoryf.htm
Speaking personally as a Jaguar XJR owner I think the E-Type would be disappointing. It would fall behind modern cars in many areas , although a restored example would no doubt be better put together better than in the 60's and 70's. The E-type is basically a 1961 design and it was surpassed in many areas, such as handling, refinement and ride by the original Jaguar XJ6 launched in 1968 , which as an overall package was a quantum leap in car design. Still I enjoy reading about Denis Jenkinson blasting his way to southern Europe at an indecent speed in his E-type on uncrowded roads. I bet it was more congested for those going to this years IMM.
