Can you move the air vents?
Can you move the air vent's that come on a standard mini, if so does anyone know how to do it and what tools and parts are need. I am planning on doing a custom dashboard for my '88 mini and I want to put both air vents in the middle. Is it possible and if it is, can someone share a link where I can get directions or reply with a step by step guide on how to do it. Would be much appreciated everyone!
Will post a before and after picture once its all done!

Re: Can you move the air vents?
any thing is possible.
the walnut dashboards use a flexi pipe that is a push fit over the plastic fittings that the original moulded air vents clip into. So technically you could run a flexi pipe to the middle of the dash.
Only issue I can see is getting around the speedo assembly and the run of hose will drastically affect the air flow in to the cabin.
Some people fill the air vents and fit speakers in the dash holes.
Have you seen the japan import mini dashboards? they come with air vents in the middle (where the air conditioning is fitted)

Cheers Craig. I've just had a look at the Jap import mini dashboard and that's exactly what I was looking for. I take it them dashboards are pretty hard to come across :/
Yeah, my plan was to move the air vents to the middle and put speakers where the old vents use to be and then put the head unit where the glove box is. Im not too fussed about the air flow into the cabin because I drive with the windows open anyway (when I go out with L plates on)
Jem :-)
