MINI SX FOR SALE IN NORWICH
In the latest Mini Magazine.
This actual car was roadtested by MOTOR magazine back in its March 7th 1987 issue. See
http://www.austin-rover.co.uk/ado15tunedf.htm
for the appropriate entry. Also it is on page 28 of
"Mini Gold Portfolio 1981-1997"
published by Brooklands Books.
Go on Shaun !!

It sounds great but that would mean parting with the chop.
Its not too bad a price either really...

Of course we don't know what the bodywork is like.
Back in 1987 D951WRP had a black grille and bumpers.
The original MOTOR roadtester was John Simister and he also let Paddy Hopkirk drive the car.

Re: MINI SX FOR SALE IN NORWICH
Getting out me calculator, D951WRP was one of the few modified Mini's properly roadtested by the press since the 1960's. With its 12 inch wheels and 3-10 to 1 final drive giving overall gearing of 19-28 mph per 1000 rpm , its top speed of 104-5 mph was attained in 4th gear at 5420 rpm. The engine could actually rev to 7200 rpm in the lower gears. Even a 1380 cc engine lacks the torque to pull the higher post 1984 Mini gearing.
The fastest normally aspirated Mini's tested by the press were by Broadspeed and Downton in the 1960's. They used 10 inch wheels and 3-44 to 1 final drives to reach 110 mph, and they were 1275's. The overall gearing was 16-56 mph per 1000 mph.
Is it worth going to the expense of building a 1380 engine with all the attendant reliability risks, when dropping the overall gear ratios with a 1275 engine gets similar results ?
