Hi there, welcome to the forum! Nice looking Mini you have there. The work you mention doesn't sound too hard (ok so the gasket might be a little tricky), did you know members get discount on parts from some of the local shops?

welcome to the forum
head gasket isnt a big job as long as the head doesnt need a surface grind.
make sure when you take it apart the engine is cold and you have new oil and some feeler gages for the tapets.
need to no anymore send me a pm mate

Re: new mini owner
When you closed the bonnet, was the bonnet prop clipped in properly? You might have forced it down into the bay and got it caught on something.
Bit quiet on here this evening 'cos most have been at the club meeting and cruise - and good fun it was too.
