Would anybody be interested in this event?? 31st July - 3rd August total cost is £10. ( This is for 4 nights camping, 2 mini runs and the show) I know that 30 names are down all ready so 70 spaces left for CLASSIC Minis only.
Its 181 miles from Swaffham. I think its basically like the Weeting and Strumpshaw steam rally.

Northernminis Summer Extravaganza 2008

We are very happy to announce that Northernminis have been invited to participate in this years traction engine and historic vehicle rally which takes place at the showfield, Pickering,North Yorkshire,
on Thursday 31st July through to Sunday 3rd August 2008.
This is a fabulous opportunity to show the classic mini in a separate category amongst other historic vehicles at this amazing event, now in its 56th year.

The Event

The event itself is enormous, the biggest of its kind in the North of the UK, last year there was over one thousand historic vehicles, not including the fantastic collection of steam engines.
The historic vehicle section usually requires the cars to be pre-1970, but for the first time at this sort of event they are happy to acknowledge the uniqueness of the classic, Issigonis designed mini up to the cessation of production in 2000.
We would be expected to have our vehicles on display en mass during the rallies opening times and also to “show off” our prized possessions during parades in the main arena.
During the day at this event there is a phenomenal amount going on with a variety of events happening in the arenas as well as static displays. This years programme hasn't been finalised as yet.
There is an amazing old funfair on site, all powered by steam and a very large modern funfair.
There are bars on site and a great variety of food stalls, including fish & chips and burger vans.
There are always kids discos on an evening and live shows in the marquees for the grown ups.

Saturday night is party time (not to be missed) live shows and other entertainment, fireworks, booze, all the fun of the fair and a fantastic atmosphere.

This is a taste of what was on last year.
Steam Engines
Fairground Organs
Over 700 Cars & Commercials
Over 250 Vintage Motorcycles
Two Big Arenas
Three Stage Shows including Magicians, Dancers and Illusionists
Over 400 Vintage Tractors
100's of Trade Stands
Autojumble
Steam Working including ploughing, sawing, stone crushing and road rolling
Indoor Shopping Mall
Huge Craft Tent
Large Fine Food Marquee
3 Large Licensed Bars with Bands
Numerous Catering Outlets
Old Time Fair
Large Modern Funfair
Continuous Arena Attractions
Huge Fireworks Display on Saturday night

But as you all know, at Northernminis, we also love driving, so we aim to use our participation in this amazing rally and make it into our major summer event by adding an early morning “run to the sun” and an evening “moors cruise” to the agenda.
We will have our own, designated camping area just for mini owners and take great pleasure in inviting members of Northernminis and our friends in various other mini clubs to join us in what should be a unique and unforgettable experience.

Oh, the thing that I was forgetting to mention was the cost.
Well I'm very pleased to announce that the cost for entry to the event and the cost of camping over 4 nights is zero.
We will probably produce a rally plate, window sticker and run notes etc for this event, so there will be a charge of £10 with any surplus going to charity, along with any dosh raised from our legendary raffle.
We are restricted to 100 classic minis for this event, so please get your names down early if you would like to attend.
An event web-page with application form will follow next month, but we need to have an idea of interest in taking part in this do.
