Found in a garden F reg 1989 Auto Mini City with 27,000 miles with full service history no rust immaculate interior etc, should we buy it !!!!!! affraid

Sounds a good find. If at a reasonable price definitely worth changing the gear box as Craig suggests... you wont enjoy driving an auto I'm sure.

I cant imagine it being too difficult a job, but then Ive never done one, however Im sure our club experts would offer sound advice/assistance.

I believe its gearbox and subframe that just need changing.

You can use the subframe as long as you use 2 packers as the auto frame is a little bit wider.

Best option is to drop a complete engine and box in as its a much easier and cheaper option.

I have done this before and it quite straight forward.

remember you will need some other items like..... clutch pedel, master and slave cylenders, pipes etc..

If you need help just....SHOUT.....

I HAVE A ENGINE + BOX PLUS GEAR LINK PEDALS ETC OUT OF A 1981-2 CITY 1000. MY JUST NEED PIPEWORK AS CUT THEM TO REMOVE FROM SHELL. ENGINE DONE APPROX 50K HAVENT HAD IT RUNNING THOUGH.

WE have got her or him home now, and in the garage with the air-con on too hot for the heater's. (booked in for a M.O.T. on wednesday) finger's crossed, made a mistake on the mileage its 21,750 miles. Thank's for all the advice will have to see how much it cost to decide what to do next !!!!!

Oh well he did not pass the M.O.T. little things to do like rear brakes, steering gaiters, front sub frame bush but, [b]NO[/b] 1st time welding to be done.
