The Uppingham Festival 2008 – The Italian Job!!!!!
Bring your minis along for a summer’s day out

June 22nd, the day The Italian Job comes to Rutland!

Britain’s smallest county is putting on a two week Festival in June called The Italian Job. With West End stars like Prunella Scales and Eastenders’ Natalie Cassidy, top quality folk and classical Music, Food, Wine, and Minis, it’ll be a fantastic festive fortnight.

The MAJOR ATTRACTION is THE UPPINGHAM FEAST, 100 years old last year, which this year features:

All day screenings of The Italian Job (Michael Caine version of course)

Display of the original E type Jaguar from the film.

Jugglers, Fire Eating, Punch & Judy, Live Music, Italian Food Market,

Morris Dancers, Hog Roast, Wine tasting, Loads of other attractions & activities for children ( bouncy castles ) and adults.

And the Minis

11.00 am Italian Market opens

12.00 pm The music starts

12.30 am Official opening International Rugby Star Martin Castrogiovanni of Leicester Tigers and Italy.

This year’s festival is built around the Italian idea, and we are raising money for The Italian Job charity throughout the fortnight, including a raffle on the Feast Day itself.

2.30 pm Mini Convoy will set off from Uppingham , towards Oakham with a scenic route included around Rutland Water and nearby villages.

3.30 pm approx time for minis to head back to Uppingham
designated free parking for minis in Uppingham centre

It will be a great day for mini enthusiasts, clubs, family and friends to meet up with other Mini lovers.

Uppingham is a beautiful market town in the middle of Rutland: nearby is Rutland Water, the largest man-made lake in the UK, a major tourist attraction. Also Eyebrook Reservoir, where the Dambusters bombers practised during the 2nd WW.

Facilities
There are several gathering points for tourists or group events – camp sites around Rutland Water (owned by Anglian Water), and Parking is available in Uppingham during the Feast Day.
