Going Retro ? Empty Going Retro ?

If you have a Cooper or Mooper , the easiest way of going retro is to recreate the MK2 look of 1967 to 1969. The Cooper and Cooper S badges are easilly available and you will need some group 2 arches. Red and white cars can be made to look like rally cars while the BRG/white Mini can be turned into a 1968 Cooper Car Company saloon racer. Alternatively there is the 1969 Britax/Downton Cooper look , but you need a yellow and black base car to begin with. But you can buy this decal kit.

Here are pics of the 1968 Cooper racers. They were BRG with a white roof, although getting the side decals might prove a problem. The group 2 arches were also BRG.

In 1998 Rover produced the limited edition Mini Cooper Sports to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the cars four racing championships in 1968. The side decals were similar to the Cooper Car Company style, but replica sets seem to be non existent on the web.

This thread had some good pics.

Here is a scan from the latest Mini Mag of Jon Betts new car , so apologies for infringing copyright. It appears to have a MK3 on bootlid with a MK1/2 hinged number plate for the retro look. Does it work visually ?

For those of you who liked my race number decals, here is where I got it done.

http://www.graphic-edge.com/

It is run by Neill Woodhouse , brother of a former member. The service was top knotch and they apply the decals, so no air bubble etc.
