Re: Ebay piggyback device 25bhp claimed power increase
Well, it’s not a chip mod really. All you'll get is a couple of resisters that you put onto the input from the sensor (25p from Matalan?) The chances are it will...
a, do nothing
b, put your engine management into a tail spin
c, give a slight increase at some point during the rev range.
I also like the claim that it increases the amount of fuel flow to give you more power but, and here’s the cunning bit, it can decrease your fuel consumption???????? is it just me?
At the end of the day they don't really seem to have any real info on the results and carry a catch all advert that they just change the make of car on. +25 bhp make be possible on a jag or similar but they claim the same for a mini? vitara? and fiat cinquentto? so I’d personally take it with a pinch of salt and spend the money on beer.
Also check the guys feedback Chips (Resisters), dodgy diets and get rich quick schemes. Not much of a tuning house to my mind.

Re: Ebay piggyback device 25bhp claimed power increase
Yeah they are not a good idea.
They fool your car into giving more fuel at lower revs.
This can improve torque figures on a correctly set up vehicle but not as much gains as the adverts suggest.
You can type in vertually any make of car with the word "chip" into a seach and there will be vast lists of people claiming huge benefits for just £1.99 etc.
Its true they are just resistors that cost pennys.
You can by a MAFAM unit to do this correctly (adjusts for any loses in you MAF signal giving you optimum performance) but there are around £40-100 depending on the vehicle.
Thanks
