Any thoughts when you will be rearranging this?

I have just fitted a worked mg metro head with 1.5 rockers on Sheldon, time to see if I have improved on the 70BHP Smile

*** NEW DATE - Friday 22nd March 2013 - NEW DATE ***

Post by Caroline on Wed Jan 23, 2013 12:03 pm

As the title says, we have a new date for this - Friday 22nd March. That's just before the Brooklands show and the start of the show/run season Very Happy

I think we certainly have enough people interested again to fill the day up. So, can you please all confirm that you're still interested (and whether you want tune ups or power runs) - and of course I'm going to be asking for deposits again. Don't forget it is a bargain as against the usual charge of over 100. It's about about 70 each car for a tune up, but exact price depends on numbers. New needles are extra.

Deposits of 40 for tune up and 20 for power run as soon as possible please, balance payable on the day. PM me for my address to send me a cheque, or give me the money at next club meet (my mobile number is 07990575277). First come, first served if we are oversubscribed! I will put up a cut off date for this later if necessary, should I need to cut it to a half day (hopefully that won't be required).

The price for the day is the same as last year for the day. I don't think I really need to say again how good Peter is and how much those that went last year found their cars were improved.

Details are:

Peter Baldwin
Wilshers Garages
Automobile Engineers
Cambridge Road,
Wimpole
Royston
Cambridgeshire SG8 5QE
01223 207217

http://www.wilshers-garages.com/location_map.asp

It will be a 10 a.m. start at the garage again, we will need to sort meeting up to convoy down nearer the time (it was 8.45 at Barton Mills last time).

Right, time for you to all get on with making sure the cars ready for this! A reminder for people to check condition of hoses / clips. Fluid levels and replace any ignition parts as required.

If you are new and wondering what this is all about, then see the previosu thread for the day in April last year.

Hurrah!

Re: Another rolling road day?

Post by Caroline on Thu Jan 24, 2013 1:34 pm

Hey all

I've had LOTS of interest in this! I think the only fair way I can guarantee that you get a place is say the first to get me the deposit gets the place. If we do have enough for a second day then I'll have to look at organising that later, or you can look at being a reserve in case ayone has any problems later and needs to drop out (and I suggest that you all have up to date club membership!)

The exact price depends on how many cars we have go and what they have done (as that affects how long they take) - it's a day price of 480 inc VAT.

Last time we said a deposit of 40 for a tune up and 20 for a MPI run and I'm sticking with that.

That's on the basis that at best we can get at most 8 cars tuned plus any power runs (perhaps optimistic?). As a power run should take about half as long as a tune up I was assuming the cost on the day would be about 30 for a MPR run and 60 for tune up (plus any parts).

Hopefully that makes sense?

I've got the day booked off, so permitting my car works then, i'll just have a power run, unless Peter can prick around with an spi engine and make it more powerful?

As much as a power run is tempting I think it would only leave me with a sad feeling when I find out how many horses my mini doesn't have any more! Razz

We are now fully booked, and may be a little pushed. If anyone else is still interested they will have to be a reserve.

Hi all,

Can we all please aim to be at Barton Mills for about 8.30, to make sure that we are at Peter's for 10? Bluffin, I've remembered that you are coming in the afternoon. I assume that everyone else is coming in the morning, unless you tell me otherwise.

If anyone wants to meet us there you will find the address in the thread above, but please do let me know so that we aren't waiting for you.

Cheers!

And thank you to you all for coming. Certainly a good day and Peter told me that we saved over 300 by all going together! He's brilliant.

I know I need to refund Ben some pennies, and we had a bit left over as it seems that we were not charged for as many needles as we thought we used - so am proposing to put the change in club funds, if that's ok with those who I owe 1.60 to who paid for a needle?

A really good day, Thank you to Ian for letting me come along in the Super Cooper.

I would totally recommend anyone with a carb to do this as it was amazing to see how Peter could boost quite a few more horses into the mini's just by twiddling a few screws and changing the needles! I also learnt that mini's dont mind being taken up to six thousand revs, I tested the theory on my own after leaving Ians tonight Razz

I will put the videos together and get something online soon.
