MITP amnnouncement (from Facebook):

Mini in the Park 2008
www.miniinthepark.co.uk
After last year's soggy event at Santa Pod, you'll be pleased to know that we have made changes to the layout of the show which we're sure will be beneficial to visitors and traders alike.
There's no denying that the weather affected the show last year, but the summer of 2007 was a washout across most of the country, so it wasn't just MITP. However, we have your comments ringing in our ears and can now reveal further details of this year's show.
Firstly, what most of you want to hear is that the important stuff will be on tarmac. That means most club stands, the trade village, concours, autojumble and the Minimag stand will be on hardstanding next to the dragstrip. This in itself should prevent many of the issues from last year, and as such trade stand bookings are booming so there will be a lot more retailers to pick up your bits and bobs from.
These changes now mean there is more room for camping and bigger and better Rally-cross stage on the grass, opposite which will be the tactically situated beer tent and funfair, alongside a challenging Autotest circuit.
New for 2008 is a 10 minute tech tent where you'll be able to join in and work on one of Minimag's cars, helping with a quick fix; we're also bringing along a rolling road for you to test your Mini's output after which you can visit Mini expert Keith Calver and ask him what you need to do to improve your performance, as well as any other queries.
To inject some action into the day the ¼ mile dragstrip and grandstand will be open all day where we expect to see top engine builders competing for the fastest time of the day, as well as owners trying to beat their own personal bests. If that's not enough, it will cost just £20 for unlimited runs up the strip, so you can fettle your Mini to your heart's content until you get your best time.
Club activities this year will include a prize for the best club stand, plus more club challenges we have planned, including welly flinging, tug of war and human table football!
For those who prefer to show off their cars rather than race them, the concours area takes pride of place at the show and will itself be a major attraction. Make sure you get to the show early as entry for concours closes at 10.30am on the Sunday. There will also be a dedicated 'For Sale' area for those looking to part with their beloved car.
As part of an all-encapsulating event you are invited to come and camp over on the Saturday, where gates will be open from noon with entertainment in the form of three bands, a Mini pub quiz (set by the Minimag team), a funfair and an indoor screening of The Italian Job. The bar will be open and barbeques are welcome, but sadly Santa Pod cannot accommodate any animals at the venue, sorry. There will also be plenty of kids' entertainment so make it a family day out and bring a picnic!
All in all you should be able to tell that we have made significant changes to the show that should result in a massive improvement for showgoers. Hope you enjoy.

Re: Mini In The Park
another excellent day, considering the torrental downpours onroute to Barton Mills this morning.
I have taken over 400 photos, I think I've got that now down to 100ish. (it was quite a challenge getting photos of a car doing 250mhp!!!)
I'll upload the pics soon
thanks to Johnnie for sorting out the tickets and clubstand
