Although technically advanced, the production engineering of the Mini was poor and costing non-existent. Remember the eurobox you drive today is designed to be assembled by some greasy Spaniard (or some other filthy foreigner) who couldn't care about the customer as long as he gets paid, and to look like a quality product.
