Milestone today ..... one side done, and took Tommy out to turn him around ready for the next side...
.. with the repaired door on. Fits a treat .. no more 'clunking' !

All holes gone!

Looks what needs doing on the other side......

You are an inspiration and this is a really good forum thread. You have taken on work which I wouldn't even start to consider doing. Thank heavens Tim is nearby!

Re: Project 'Tommy' - 1996 Equinox Spi
Interesting day today.... patched up 4 holes along the inner sill, and then came to the biggy!
The metal around the cross member is shot, as well as the metal between this and the next biggest hole by the drivers footwell, so another time for a big replacement.. I've cut it out and got the panel cut roughly to size so this week I'll be trimming, and trimming and ..... trimming ....
... the problem...

rot cut out!

angle grinder been busy again!

When (if!) I finish I'll be too busy driving, plus as I'm a complete novice I'd hate to break someone elses car

Re: Project 'Tommy' - 1996 Equinox Spi
Boring day today - measuring up the floor panel for the big hole I made and tacking it in - took the whole day!
Old & New!

Not easy to see, but I was using the hole in the side, just under the door as a reference point until the last minute!

Tacked in ... phew!

start on the welding tomorrow....

Re: Project 'Tommy' - 1996 Equinox Spi
Tidying up a bit today. Welded in the floor panel and covered it so it does not start to rust:

... then started preparing to replace the inner wing near the A post. Cut away the rust and prepared the door hinge panel (luckily in better condition than the other side!). I did measure up and cut the repair panel but when I went to fit it I was about an inch out (
).... not sure how that happended, but will get another in the week and have another go! (they are not expensive)

Momentus day anyway as there are now no holes in the floor that are not supposed to be there!!
